Pacific RIm is a Guillermo Del Toro love letter to all things that were an influence on him, the film combines aspects of anime, war movies, sci-fi, old monster movies and mixes them up in a slick package that is terrific fun. Del Toro has set out to do is to take these elements and combine them in a huge blockbuster film. So does he succeed? Yes and no.
