Marvel Studios has announced that Captain America: Civil War has started principal photography today at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta, Ga. However, that’s not really the big news. The big news is that they also released both a synopsis of the plot and a Cast List with both returning characters and some new ones who will be making their debut into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Put them together and you have a sense of how it might all go down.
Marvel states the synopsis as follows: Captain America: Civil War picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.
Obviously, Civil War will involve Captain America (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), but whose side will the other characters choose. Black Widow (Scarlet Johansson) will make her return on film. Whether or not she actually appears in merchandise remains to be seen.
The Winter Soldier, “Bucky” Barnes (Sebastian Stan), is set to appear. Will he know who he is by then?
Falcon, aka Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), returns, but will he still be watching Cap’s 6?
Vision (Paul Bettany). ‘Nuff said.
Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) will be there. Why not, right?
War Machine’s (Don Cheadle) stance might be obvious, but will it go down that way?
Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olson) could be a deciding factor in an all out war.
Ant Man (Paul Rudd) will be making his first appearance since Ant Man, which will obviously be released before Civil War.
Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) will make his first on-screen appearance. Oh, yeah!
Agent 13 (Emily VanCamp) will be there, but who is she? *Cough*SharonCarter*Cough*
General “Thunderbolt” Ross (William Hurt) will return, after being last seen in The Incredible Hulk. Is anyone else hoping for a Red Hulk throw down?
Brock Rumlow (Frank Grillo) will return, but, after the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, will we finally see Crossbones?
Spider-Man! Spider-Man! Spider-Man!
