Imagine Agents 01

Think back to when you were a kid. Did you have an imaginary friend? If so, did you ever stop to think what happened to said friend when you grew up and forgot about him/her/it?

Writer Brian Joines and artist Bachan have done just that in the upcoming Boom! Studios mini-series, Imagine Agents. The series, set to come out October 16, is set in a world where those forgotten friends still exist. The only people who can see the creatures, or figments, are the children who first dreamed them up and the agents of I.M.A.G.I.N.E.

Two of those agents, 20-year veteran Dave and new recruit Terry, who was recently plucked from working in the archives at the Seattle office, are among the featured players. The stars of the book, however, are six-year-old Elliot and his figment, a large bear named Furdlgurr. Think My Pet Monster but with less purple. Inevitably, Elliot and Furdlgurr become embroiled in something they shouldn’t, something that threatens to change everything.

Joines has admitted that I.M.A.G.I.N.E. is indeed a carefully crafted acronym, but would only divulge that the E stands for Entities. Hrmm…interesting. The hat tip to Men In Black is also interesting…hopefully not too big a tip was given to part three.

Between Joines’ storytelling and Bachan’s Saturday morning cartoon-inspired art, Imagine Agents looks poised to appeal to readers of all ages.
