Arriving on the top shelf of nerd/otaku collectibles in September 2015 is Gecco Corp’s 1/6 scale interpretation of Kentaro Miura’s hero, The Black Swordsman, “Guts,” the main protagonist of the long running Hakusensha manga, Berserk.  Retailing for $339 USD, the PVC figure is 138 cm high, and he rests his sword Dragonslayer on his shoulder.  Two heads are included:  glaring and sneering.

This high end collectible was sculpted by Shinya Akao, known for his ability to recreate textures in three dimensions and bring to life not only celebrities but imaginary creatures and original designs.  Shinya is a long time fan of Berserk, and he has sculpted many Berserk characters under his private brand, Headlong, for collectors around the world.

The figure’s painter, Norifumi Dohi, has completed countless paint masters for various hobby manufacturers, but he has a passion for creatures and monsters, as their figure work allows him to capture incredible detail and texture.

Berserk is published by Hakusensha in Japan, and there are 37 volumes translated into English for Dark Horse Comics.  The manga tells the story of one-eyed, one-armed Guts’ revenge, and it has become a popular franchise, having been adapted into anime, films and trading cards, and having won the 6th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize in 2002.
