Wizard World has released an impressive list of celebrities for its Chicago show this August. The Chicago show is the largest Wizard World convention, and one of the largest pop culture conventions in the United States, so it is no surprise that we see the quantity and quality of names on this list.
As the press release puts the spotlight on the TV and film media guests, and just a few of the comic creators in attendance, I’d like to run through a partial list of the comic artists that are slated to attend: Dan Parent, Mike Zeck, Mike Grell, Michael Golden, Jose Pulido, Arthur Suydam, Joe Rubinstein, Whilce Portacio, James O’Barr, Art Baltazar, Clay Mann, Tyler Kirkham, Dean Haspiel, Gerhard, Neal Adams, Larry Elmore, and more. There are also animation artists Tom Cook, Phil Ortiz, and Kurt Lehner, some of the designers behind cartoon series such as The Superfriends, Gargoyles, and The Simpsons.
Let those names sink in for a minute. At the same convention, you could possibly get sketches from artists associated with Betty and Veronica, Warlord, The Micronauts, The Master of Kung Fu, Marvel Zombies, The Crow, Itty Bitty Hellboy, The Fox, Green Lantern, SnarfQuest, The Superfriends, Gargoyles, and The Simpsons. If you’re a collector of comic book or animation art and heading to this con in August, start saving those dollars now…
