Somehow, we are back again for another round of trailers and stuff. This edition features some revenge seeking cheerleaders in All Cheerleaders Die, a thoughtful anime with The Wind Rises, every mutant past and future shows up in X-Men: Days of Future Past and finally Gareth Evans cracks his knuckles as we prepare for The Raid 2: Berandal.
ALL CHEERLEADERS DIE
Who: Lucky McKee, Chris Sivertson, Catilin Stasey, Sianoa Smith-McPhee
What: A rebel girl signs up a group of cheerleaders to help her take down the captain of their high school football team, but a supernatural turn of events thrusts the girls into a different battle.
We say: Could end up like the polarizing Jennifer’s Body, but with Lucky McKee writing and directing, you can be sure of some originality and fun.
THE WIND RISES
Who: Hayao Myiazaki, Hideaki Anno, Jun Kunimura
What: A look at the life of Jiro Horikoshi, the man who designed Japanese fighter planes during World War II.
We Say: The guy who brought you Spirited Away, now does an animated sort of fantasy biopic… Yeah, you know it’s going to be good regardless.
X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST
Who: Bryan Singer and just about every mutant from all films.
What: The X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two-time periods. The characters from the original X-Men film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from X-Men: First Class in an epic battle that must change the past – to save the future.
We Say: Bryan Singer returns. Everyone else returns. Honestly, this couldn’t be more exciting.
THE RAID 2: BERANDAL
Who: Gareth Evans, Iko Uwais, Yayan Ruhian
What: Takes places 2 hours after the first film ended…
We Say: The Raid was one of the best action films ever. Director Gareth Evans returns with the sequel that looks just as good and just as brutal.
