Frank Moses (Bruce Willis) and the rest of the Retired, Extremely Dangerous spies from 2010’s RED are back, finding themselves once again in trouble. Although, this time, the novelty of pensioners wielding pistols is wearing a little thin.

The cast is back in this sequel to 2010’s RED with a few additions. RED 2 sticks to the formula of a twisty plot and zippy one-liners established in the first film. Although the sequel doesn’t take any risks, RED 2 will satisfy fans of the first film.

When the film begins, it seems Side Effects wants to intelligently discuss mental illness and the multi-billion dollar pharmaceutical industry, but last half of the film ditches any meaningful premises and devolves into psychological thriller territory better navigated by Alfred Hitchcock.
