KotN Celeste & Virgil

Celeste trains Virgil on quad-copters.

There has been some drama for the Servants of the Forsaken Orb (SFO).  The next team challenge on King of the Nerds was operating remote controlled quad-copters through an obstacle course for points, the team with the most points is safe from banishment. SFO was very confident going into the challenge against Blextrophy and early into the competition it seemed as though they were going to win. Then Virgil was able to pull himself together and skillfully navigate his copter with blistering speed through the course giving Blextrophy their first win. Now SFO will have two of their own battle it out in the Nerd Off.

KotN Danielle

Danielle is upset.

Joshua and Danielle are having a discussion and Danielle is very upset about how they lost and now must vote someone to go into the Nerd Off. Joshua tells her that he is going to vote for himself, it seems he is a sucker for a crying girl.  When both teams are called to the throne room, we find out the Blextrophy voted for Brandon and SFO’s majority votes were for Danielle. Danielle knows she was stabbed in the back by Joshua and is very upset about it.

Danielle and Brandon battle head to head in the Nerd Off driving remote controlled golf carts trying to push a ball into a goal for points. It is apparent SFO wants Brandon to win because he is one of their strongest assets. Danielle dominates the Nerd Off and Brandon must go home.  Now, SFO must try to salvage the relationship with Danielle and become unified again or risk constant turmoil with a disgruntled team mate.

KotN Judges

Left: Jason Mewes, Center: Kevin Smith, and Right: Gordon Stables

A superhero debate is the next team challenge where members of each team must debate certain aspects of superheros, such as; “Superheros, by their nature, attract super-villains, thereby creating more problems for society than benefits.” A person from each team will debate one of four topics, each team was preassigned if they will debate for or against that particular topic. Both teams were confident going into the competition with the exception of Celeste, she was nervous since debating is not one of her strengths. USC debate director Gordon Stables and actors/comic book experts Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith (aka Jay & Silent Bob) are the judges for the debate.

Both teams start off the first two topics very strong with SFO winning both points. Danielle and Celeste face of on the third topic, Celeste stumbled through her topic and Danielle won the the final point for SFO. Now Blextrophy will face another Nerd Off and Alana is certain her team will vote her into it. SFO uses this victory to celebrate and re-bond, it appears that Danielle and Joshua have made up after he allows her to slap him in the face one time, it was the slap heard around the world, or at least within the walls of Nerdvana.

Blextrophy votes for Alana and SFO votes for Genevieve to go into the Nerd Off where their super hero knowledge will be tested. Alana is so confident in herself that she chooses not to study or prepare for the elimination challenge. Genevieve is also a superhero nerd and spends her time researching and sharpening her knowledge. Alana gets destroyed in the Nerd Off, only answering one question correctly. Her over confidence was her undoing, and she is sent home. Also, Joshua’s impression of  Genevieve during the Nerd Off was not only spot on, but hilarious, the rewind button was hit several times.

SFO and Blextrophy face off in the next team challenge and they must assemble a large Rubik’s Cube, once it is assembled it contains numbers on certain sections which are also used for a Sudoku puzzle. SFO takes an early lead assembling their cube first but stumbles with the Sudoku puzzle, this allows Blextrophy to catch up and win the challenge. Joshua is voted into the Nerd Off by SFO and Blextrophy votes for Ivan. It seems Danielle wants Joshua gone, “hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.”

KotN Sumo

“Come at me Bro”

Ivan and Joshua battle it out in the Nerd Off in a life size version of the game Concentration, also know as Memory. They take turns by running through a gauntlet being pummeled with tennis balls and facing a Sumo Wrestler before reaching the game area. The first one to match 7 pairs of objects wins. It is a long and hard fought battle with both competitors taking their licks in the gauntlet as we find them tied 6-6. Joshua has a chance to win but fails to match his final pair of objects opening the door to Ivan. Ivan is confident that he is about to win, expressing to Joshua on a well played game. He matches his final objects and Ivan wins the Nerd Off and Joshua is sent home.

King of the Nerds is proving to be worth while entertainment as we cheer on our favorite nerds. The show has thrown a wide variety of challenges at the competitors making us wonder what will be next? Is your favorite nerd still in the competition? Who do you think will win? Right now it is anyone’s game.
