Jim McCann’s writing pretty much reads like a heist movie. The team is gathered, the protagonist is given a reason to strike back, and the plan is formed. Mixed in though, are alien pit bosses and hologram uniforms. It’s this mix of thriller and sci-fi that help make Lost Vegas an interesting read. McCann’s dialogue and narration falls a bit flat at points, but overall it’s a great first issue for what can be a very interesting miniseries.

Janet Lee’s art is singular in its charm. It’s a bit cartoonish, while still maintaining the strong lines that mainstream comics often have. It’s perfectly at home portraying both the handsome rouge that is Roland and the dark unknown that is Ink. It’s great for this series, and a style that is sure to be fun.

Lost Vegas shows a lot of promise and is sure to please readers with its fun premise and great cast. The talented creators are sure to make this book one worth remembering.
