Chairman and chief executive of CBS, Les Moonves, has revealed this week that the new CBS Star Trek will be available in weekly installments only. Despite debuting on subscription service CBS All Access, Star Trek will not be following the Netflix model of releasing a whole season and allowing fans to binge watch the series. As it’s 2016, a complete season release isn’t unusual but TV companies have an attachment to weekly deliveries, perhaps because it will make viewers subscribe for longer.
With veteran Star Trek creator Nicholas Meyer and Hannibal’s Bryan Fuller as showrunner, the new series sounds promising and some talk suggests it may appear on the regular CBS schedule sooner or later. Until then you can experience it for $5.99 a month (if CBS All Access is available where you live).
