Emerald City ComiCon is here once again and this seems to be the year the convention stakes its place as one of the top shows of the year. Creators and fans alike are now referring to Seattle’s event in the same reverent tones normally reserved for C2E2, New York, WonderCon and San Diego. Speaking of convention season, do you, our beloved readers have any con plans this year? Let us know in the comments below and keep an eye out for NerdSpan at a CON NEAR YOU.

Okay, the tweets are showing up pretty rapidly save for that five minute quiet period when everyone was trying for SDCC hotel rooms. That makes me think I’ve wasted too much of your time already so let’s just start twittering! Gosh!

We’ll start this edition with tweets from Rob Liefeld. Rob is a creator that inspires emotions from fans. No matter what side of the field you fall on you have an opinion on Rob Liefeld. Good, bad, there is no indifferent with this cat.

Shoutouts to Gerry Conway and Len Wein? That’s okay, I suppose…

Okay, Rob. I can see where you’re going with that statement. ‘Course I won’t necessarily call it bold. Marvel Studios’ “Phase Two” will have a cosmic bent to it. Theoretically, Marvel movie fans will begin to seek out the cosmically themed books so why not put your top folks on titles that might attract new readers to the universe. Works in my head, anyway.

RyanStegmanTweet3.2.13Yeah, I just listened to the new record the other night. Did you ever expect Tegan And Sara and Top 40 bubblegum to peacefully coexist? If you answered yes, you’re either prescient or just hipper than I.

My muse demands coffee sometimes, too. Occasionally, I need to take out the trash or clean the bathroom to appease my muse. Speaking of drinks to perk you up, has anyone tried that new Mountain Dew Kickstart? I bought it out of sheer curiosity. Are we so tired as a society that we must begin “doing the dew” in the morning, too? How will rival Coke respond? New “Coke AM” comes with a car battery you clamp to your ears to give your brain the jumpstart it needs for the busy day ahead! Feel the sizzle! *smoke and singeing of bodily hair is a natural side effect of Coke AM so pay no mind*

The week’s big topic is again, Emerald City ComiCon so let’s catch up with some dispatches from the front lines, shall we? So far, Dynamite has announced that Gail Simone will be writing Red Sonja for them and now this Dark Horse announcement courtesy of Kelly Sue DeConnick:

Okay, Ghost becomes an ongoing starting soon. Cool news. But does anyone have any tips about getting in the con itself?

RyanOttleyTweet3.2.13

Nope. Just wait. In Seattle. That won’t bother anyone. The Pacific Northwest! Come for the beauty, the legendary music and ECCC! Stay for the Seasonal Affective Disorder!

Okay, we need real advice, though. Something practical. Brian Wood is here to help.

See also, bourbon. It’s worked for me all these years. Plus, it lets me talk to people!

Image’s Branwyn Bigglestone to the rescue. You have my eternal gratitude and I’m not even there. But if you want me at your con, I’m available for bookings. My rider isn’t too crazy. Mostly bourbon. And Bugles. They’re pretty tasty.

Well, I had fun today and I hope you did too. We’ll do this again soon, and perhaps I’ll feature a creator you recommend! For that to happen, you need to tell me whom I should be following! Don’t forget, let us in on your convention season plans in the comments section. Bye!
