The original voice actresses who played the superhero trio on The Powerpuff Girls have reacted to the new cast for the Cartoon Network 2016 reboot.
Revealed in a series of tweets from Cartoon Network, as seen on Mashable, the new female voice actresses for The Powerpuff Girls are Amanda Leighton, Natalie Palamides and Kristen Li. Leighton (The Fosters) will play Blossom, Palamides (Very Important House) plays Buttercup, and Li (Monsters University) will voice Bubbles.
According to Mashable, Tom Kenny will reprise his roles as the Narrator and Mayor in the new series.
The former Powerpuff Girl cast, Cathy Cavadini, Tara Strong and E.G. Daily, weren’t exactly thrilled to learn they were recast from a series they’ve worked on for 20 years.

Powerpuff Girls series creator Craig McCraken, who currently works on Wander Over Yonder and isn’t involved with the 2016 Cartoon Network reboot, showed support for the original cast.

Cavadini, Strong and Daily have shown no animosity towards the new voice actresses portraying their former characters; only disappointment at Cartoon Network for leaving them in the dust.
The 2016 Powerpuff Girls reboot isn’t the first time Cartoon Network has brought back the series. A CGI animated special starring Ringo Starr aired in 2013 and featured the original voice cast, but was made without McCraken.
