Loot Wear’s Speed collection was an intensely driven relay of racers from four fandom-favorite franchises, Sonic the Hedgehog, Mario Kart, Transformers, and Deadpool. While I used the race metaphor in my review of the Speed core Loot Crate, I think of the Loot Wear Speed collection more as a relay because they were so excellent as a group that they surely were competing as one entry. Compared to other Loot Wear collections, when some months the Wearable is the breakout sensation, and other months it is the Loot for Her, in the Speed Collection, all the items were outstanding.

I was especially impressed with this month’s Loot Tee, as in past months, the Loot Tees have been nice, cute, t-shirts, but none of them have really wowed me until this month’s Mario Kart “Victory” T-shirt, which depicts a blue turtle shell and the date of Nintendo’s first Mario Kart game, 1992. It’s the best Loot Tee so far, and about two minutes after I got the package, I snapped the pics for this review, and then it was on my skin for the rest of the day. It’s soft, comfortable, and airy, in addition to having a sweet, understated, design that recognizes why Nintendo transcends the times, and has entered the realm of heightened cultural authority of that which is vintage: Nintendo’s authenticity of vision is embodied in the decade-spanning iconic impact of that blue turtle shell.

Not that the other items suffer in comparison to this tee. The Loot Wearable was just as epic: an exclusive Transformers jersey that lets everyone know that you’re Team Autobot, and maybe that there’s more to you than meets the eye. The Autobots insignia on the left breast is an excellent piece of raised embroidery, and that, and the blazing white background fabric, make this shirt pop.

It’s been said by many that we’re most ourselves in our quiet moments, and perhaps for that reason, I have a dozen fandom-themed pajama pants, a Jor-El bed robe, and Tardis slippers, and I also know what an amazing thing it was to get those awesome Star Wars pajama pants in December’s Galaxy collection. Maybe this stems from loving my Underoos as a boy, I don’t know, but I can certainly understand the excitement of the lucky Loot for Her subscribers that received their exclusive Transformers Arcee sleep shorts . These soft and silky sleep shorts look comfortable and stylish, and more adventurous wearers may be inspired to wear them to the gym or out on a midnight run to those magical no-judgement places, 24 hour box stores.

Loot Socks subscribers got two pairs of excellent socks: Deadpool athletic socks and exclusive Sonic the Hedgehog crew socks. The Sonic socks are adorable, as they show Sega’s speedster not in a dynamic action pose, like most video game themed hosiery does, but in a humorous state of surprise that was so shocking that he just lost his rings in a burst of gold.

Subscribers to Loot Wear were pleasantly surprised as well by the power of this month’s Speed collection.  While these speedsters have passed over the horizon, you can now subscribe to Loot Wear’s October collection, Horror, which will load items from The Walking Dead, Edward Scissorhands, Alien, and Shaun of the Dead into your goody bag.
