LootCrate’s club for gamer fashionistas, LVL UP+, has now moved to being available to the non- LootCrate subscribing public, and if the Galaxy goods that arrived in December are an indication of what’s to come, you should definitely buy into this subscription service at any level.
LVL UP+ has different levels of buy in: socks alone, wearable alone, accessories, or a socks/wearable combo. While you could just get the wearable, or the socks, or the accessories, the Galaxy Collection was a great example of why you should get them all.
The main draw to this club is the wearable, which usually has been a top, but this month is Star Wars pajama pants by Mad Engine that you will never want to take off. Seriously, you might lose your job if you put these on, because they are so comfortable that you will never want to take them off to go do grown up things. They are 100% cotton and perfect for long form gaming or binge watching. These might be the best wearable that I have ever seen pop out of a subscription service package. And not only are they comfortable, the design is so dashing that you will be tempted, when the weather gets a little warmer, to make a midnight run in them just so that the world can see them. The less inhibited will no doubt wear these anywhere and anywhen, as any judgment will bounce off the cool factor of these pants. If I’ve sold you on these pants by now, I have the unfortunate duty of telling you that these are exclusive to LVL UP+, and you can’t get them outside of the club. If you’re in LVL UP+, high five; if you’re not, too bad, so sad.
Next up are the socks. The socks are always of high quality when they appear in LootCrates, and the ones from LVL UP+ are just as good, if not better, because you get two pair of thematically associated socks. This month you got two sets of Hyp Hosiery’s Star Wars socks so that couples could go to the premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens in style. One set is Kylo Ren, and the other is an interesting mismatched pair, with one being R2D2 and the other being C3PO. It’s actually hard to call them mismatched, as no two socks of the same color can be said to go together as well as Artoo and Threepio. Like the pants, both pairs of socks are an exclusive item. If you like what you see, and didn’t get the Galaxy Collection, good luck. These socks also mark a point of crossover with the regular LootCrate subscription, which included BB8 socks, also from Hyp Hosiery, in this month’s Galaxy crate. Only those that subscribed to both services got the full set.
Women that are already sold on the LVL UP+ accessories can skip to the next paragraph, as these next sentences are for the men. Many men will pass on adding on the accessories, and I’m going to tell you now that if you’re in a relationship, men, that is a huge mistake. This month’s main accessory is an incredibly cute Bioworld BB-8 clutch that your girlfriends and wives will want. Plus, it’s an exclusive item that their friends and frienemies will not be able to find outside of LVL UP+. Actually, I did find one in the eBay aftermarket—22 bids and $27, which is quite a bit pricier than the LvlUp add-on price of just 14.99. LootCrate has always had a great instinct for chains, pins, and even their monthly buttons, and based on the BB-8 clutch and exclusive Darth Vader bag charm in the Galaxy collection you can trust that the LVL UP+ club’s accessory selections will also be great looking pieces whether for the women that buy them for themselves or the men that buy them for their significant others.
The great brains behind LootCrate are just as determined to make LVL UP+ a remarkable subscription service, and you will be doing yourself a good service if you are at the head of that crowd getting the early collections. Because while they will no doubt continue to be excellent in the future, my thoughts upon surveying this collection is that they are trying doubly hard to impress prospective customers, and the rest of the 2016 collections stand a good chance of being outstanding like this one. Everyone deserves to be lucky at least once a month, so what are you waiting for?
