Really great review, Ketih – I just started my Scribd trial this weekend and I completely agree with your sentiments.
Sadly, I don’t see them doing a Guided View-style navigation for comics anytime soon. This seems like something that comiXology staff do for every issue they release, or perhaps provide publishers the tools to do so. Either way it must take a lot of time to do. Given the publishers are providing their titles a-la-carte for Scribd, I don’t think they’ll do anything extra for them. They want fastest/easiest turnaround.
The Android app can do with some improvements (not sure whether it uses the same interface as iOS), most notably that the search box and access to one’s library should be available on the majority of screens, not just the top tiers of screens.
That said, I’m very happy with the selection so far, not just of comics but fiction and non-fiction. What it allows readers to do is try out tiels they would never check out because of that leap of faith that’s required in purchasing something, only to realise that it’s not what you thought it would be.
I’d be super happy if Scribd can get some titles added from Image Comics.

Thanks for the note on Android Scribd. Also, I agree with your analysis on guided view, which is probably not going to be added until it is a responsible and profitable investment of their time. For example, when a large percentage of their subscribers are comic book readers, or if downloads of comics outpace other forms of reading.
