With the recent easing of some aspects of the lockdown, cinemas across the world are beginning to plan their re-opening schedules! In some areas of the US, this has been well underway, but many independent cinemas, and some chains, are still waiting.
UK
- Cineworld opens its chain on 31st July
- All Picturehouse cinemas (owned by Cineworld) will open on 31st July
- Curzon – Canterbury opens on 17th July, Mayfair opens on 24th July, and then other cinemas in the chain open in a staggered fashion across July/August.
US
- Regal (owned by Cineworld) have announced that all their cinemas will open on 31st July
- AMC will open on 30th July
Europe
- Cinema City (owned by Cineworld) will also open in July
Across all these chains, expect hand sanitiser stations, masks to be worn in foyers, and social distancing within the theatre itself. There is also likely to be many other precautions taken to protect staff and customers, so check out your local cinemas website before travelling!
