Jack Reacher. A big, bad, justice seeking SOB. One Shot is just one of a long series of books written by Lee Child featuring Jack Reacher, a former Army MP Investigator who never stays in one place long enough to live a life, but always long enough to make things right. In One Shot, a city is rocked to its core by a heinous sniper shooting. Five people dead. All the evidence is there. Everything points to a man named James Barr, but he says they have the wrong guy. “Get Jack Reacher for me.” Barr has a past with Reacher. A past that Reacher would rather forget. Using his training, Reacher starts looking into this case, not to help Barr, but to make sure he pays for the crime committed. However, the more Reacher digs, the less clean cut the state’s evidence becomes.

Lee Child writes in such detail that it becomes very easy to visualize all the places, people, and events in this book. One Shot is not the first book in the series about Jack Reacher, but it doesn’t matter that I started here. The character of Jack Reacher was still established well and it feels like I didn’t miss anything from the previous books. In fact, after reading this book, I plan on starting the entire series from the beginning.

Note: The movie JACK REACHER, starring Tom Cruise, is based on this book.
