Universal Television has optioned the rights to adapt the Image comic book series The Wicked + The Divine as a TV series.
According to Deadline, the Eisner-nominated series by Kieron Gillen, Jamie McKelvie and Matt Wilson will be produced by Universal and Milkfed Criminal Masterminds. Milkfed Criminal Masterminds is the company run by Kelly Sue DeConnick and her husband and fellow comic book writer Matt Fraction. The production company signed a two-year deal with Universal to develop comic book properties as TV series, with Sex Criminals being the first.
The Wicked + The Divine tells the story of a group of characters called The Pantheon, who received superhero powers after merging with deities, at the cost of their life expectancy.
