Relive Your Childhood With Mini Comics Included Kickstarter
If you grew up during the 1980s, waking up every Saturday morning to watch all your favorite cartoons with a big bowl of sugary cereal to slurp away at was an incredible feeling like no other. There were many toyetic programs like G.I. Joe and Transformers being broadcast at that time and while some were less subtle with what they were advertising, most provided a cheesy, but fun diversion for its young targeted audience. While toys are still a deciding factor in a series’ success (or failure, in the case of Green Lantern: The Animated Series and Young Justice), the Saturday morning cartoon experience has been replaced by prime time airings on cable networks or educational programs on national stations. To rectify this problem and ensure future generations experience the same joyous feelings they’ve been through, Tim Seeley, Steve Seeley, and Michael Moreci are holding a Kickstarter to produce a comic book lineup called Mini Comics Included that captures the look and feel from the 80s.
With a targeted goal of $19,000, these three talented creators are hoping to publish six series aimed at nostalgic comic book readers and toy collectors. Here’s a rundown on each 16-paged comic, presented in the same mini-size style formerly found behind a series’ action figure:
- Superbeasts: The city of Frankenvania is home to monsters from all across the Mulitiverse! And the only force able to protect them from hateful monster hunters is the superhero team, SUPERBEASTS!
- The Omega Family: THE OMEGA FAMILY are the last human family on a very different Earth—one where monsters, wild animals, and all manner of strange beasts rule the land. When a meteor crash lands and strange species threaten the entire planet, the Omegas must act!
- Colt Noble and The Megalords: The sequel to the Image Comic’s cult hit one-shot! Mareea, the beautiful and tough weapons trainer thinks she’s finally getting a romantic date with COLT NOBLE, hero of PLANET SOL! But what she actually has is a date with DUPER, evil alien DUPLICATE!
- Prime-8s: The PRIME-8s are a fighting force of super-powered monkeys sworn to protect the Earth from mad scientists, hyper-evolved animals, and intergalactic threats. When they are called into action—to Las Vegas—after secret NASA documents are stolen, what they discover is a Cold War plot involving samurai, a cyborg bear, and more!
- Dead Star Divas: The DIVAS are the greatest bio-ball team of all time. But their angry opponents have sabotaged their transporter! And now they’ve been sent to a backwater world used as a dumping grounds for genetic experiments gone wrong! Can they still work as a team when lives are on the line? There’s no ‘I’ in Divas…oh, wait….
- Literary Commandos: When not penning literary masterpieces, Earth’s greatest writers join forces as THE LITERARY COMMANDOS, the toughest, most advanced military team known to man. When Poe and his evil organization, The Raven, steal a very important time-traveling device, The COMMANDOS head to action! Will they able to stop him in TIME? Pun intended!
Like any Kickstarter, Mini Comics Included is offering a variety of reward for backers like physical and digital book copies, exclusive artwork, and of course, toys.
While backing a project always brings a shred of doubt like the unfortunate case of Sullivan’s Sluggers, Mini Comics Included clearly states their intentions, talks honestly to their supporters about the risks involved, and proudly proclaim every writer and artists will be compensated for their work. With the last day scheduled for April 3rd, those yearning for the radical days of the 80s should give the Mini Comics Included Kickstarter a chance.
