Marvel Gear + Goods has shipped its third collection of goodies for fans of Marvel Comics and the Marvel Cinematic Universe:  Weapon X, which cuts to the substance of all things Wolverine, not only Logan, but also X-23, X-Force, and Sabretooth. Just a warning, before you proceed, that this article contains not only spoilers for Weapon X, but also a single item spoiler for Cosmic Party (although it’s the same one on the ordering page for Marvel Gear + Goods).

While there is no crate craft for Weapon X, when refolded, this month’s crate takes the form of a footlocker. Also, this month’s Weapon X insert resembles a classified dossier, complete with redacted, blacked out, text. The faux footlocker and dossier are nice inclusions that help set the cloak and dagger tone of Wolverine’s military and intelligence careers. On second thought, cloak and dagger doesn’t quite sound right–perhaps I should say claws and, um, more claws?

The first thing out of the box was no surprise to most subscribers, as Loot Crate had released a spoiler of it in January, but that did not lessen the shock and awe of a blue cotton Wolverine canvas go-bag , sporting a big X shoulder strap slide buckle and the lettering “Wolverine / Can Dept K / 458 25 243 T78.” It’s just the right size to carry forty to fifty bagged and boarded comics, a stack of trades or manga, or The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, and you’d still have some room for granola bars and Primal Strips.

Another item that’s just begging to be used is this canvas water bottle with art by Cameron Stewart of the All-New Wolverine (X-23). While it comes with fairly lengthy care instructions, the water bottle looks completely functional as long as you don’t put sodas or lemon juice inside it, or put it in microwaves or dishwashers. I appreciate that it has a D-ring on one side, so that while it doesn’t come with a shoulder strap, you could rig one fairly easily, or attach it to your belt loop or Wolverine canvas go-bag. Also, this item has a cool tag that’s going into my stack of bookmarks.

While I’m super-impressed so far, my favorite item in this month’s Marvel Gear + Goods will no doubt reveal the kid inside, as it’s a toy for all ages: a X-Force Headlamp with a 3 function switch–bright, brighter, and strobe–and an adjustable headband. Loot Crate included two CR2032 batteries, so that I could play with this within sixty seconds of opening it, and it is awesome.

These Wolverine crew socks made by Bioworld are modeled after Wolverine’s original yellow and blue costume. Loot Crate’s socks always make me happy, and these are no exception. Loot Crate has great taste in socks.

If you ever wanted to turn your key ring into a Swiss army knife, now’s your chance, as the Wolverine key holder will let you take two to three keys and make them into the blades of Logan’s fist. Then, when you’re not using them, you can swivel them back into his forearm.

This month’s Marvel Gear + Goods Loot Pin is an enamel Sabretooth pin. It’s a nicely detailed five color pin, although most of its impact comes from the contrast between brown and yellow, so it has a duochrome effect that makes it stand out all the more.

Weapon X continues the trend in the Marvel Gear + Goods subscription to include household and personal items that will get some use, and not just end up in a collectors’ showcase: shoulder bag, water bottle, key holder, head lamp, socks. Looking at each of the three collections that have been issued so far–Mystics, Super Science, and Weapon X–you can see that, for the most part, these deliver the Gear and the Goods that the subscription promises. Marvel Gear + Goods aims at not only filling your shelves, which may already be full of knickknacks and doo-dads, but the other places in your house and life as well.

Weapon X has been taken off the books, but until May 15th, 2017, you can order the next Marvel Gear + Goods, Cosmic Party, which features Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain Marvel, and The Nova Corps. Loot Crate has revealed one spoiler for Cosmic Party already: the Yondu Geeki Tiki:
