Harry Shearer character Mr BurnsHarry Shearer has suggested on Twitter that he is to leave The Simpsons over a contract dispute. The new contract would have prevented him from working on other projects. The veteran actor voices many characters including Mr Burns, Ned Flanders, Principal Skinner and Smithers. Harry Shearer tweeted

from James L. Brooks’ lawyer: “show will go on, Harry will not be part of it, wish him the best.”.

This because I wanted what we’ve always had: the freedom to do other work. Of course, I wish him the very best.

Harry Shearer’s acting and writing credits are long and impressive, covering everyone from Spinal Tap’s mustachioed bass player Derek Smalls to former US President Richard Nixon.
