DC to Publish BATMAN ‘66 Comic Series
At an event at Meltdown Comics last night, DC Comics revealed that, this Summer, they’ll be putting out a new Batman comic set in the universe of the classic 1966 TV series starring Adam West and Burt Ward. Considering what a smash the show was when it debuted, and how recognizable elements of the show – the Batphone, the fight sound effects, and that car – still are today, this is a no-brainer for DC.
Further details about the series are as yet unrevealed, but here at NerdSpan we’ve compiled a list of five things that we hopefully won’t be seeing when the new series debuts later this year.
5. Chief O’Hara dies of lute-related injuries inflicted by The Minstrel
4. The Bookworm shoots and cripples Batgirl
3. Robin is murdered, impaled during a brutal battle with King Tut
2. Louie the Lilac cuts off Egghead’s face; Egghead later wears it as a mask
1. Batman and Marsha, Queen of Diamonds have costumed rooftop sex
UPDATE 2:31 PM: Additional details are now available, including the creative team. The series will be written by Jeff Parker and feature covers by Michael Allred. The first issue will be drawn by Jonathan Case.
