Loot Anime’s Brave episode has arrived with artifacts from Class E, a tote for your sins of choice, a neon grape wearable, and a little backstory on your favorite piece of Fairy Tail, including goodies from Assassination Classroom, Fairy Tail: Rhodonite, Seven Deadly Sins, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Overlord.

While Assassination Classroom received two items this month, they were not the hero items in Brave, but very cool nontheless. In addition to a fantastic lanyard with character art on the strap and Koro Sensei on the badge holder, this month’s poster features an impressive group portrait of Class E. Though there were a lot of great Yume posters, I’m enjoying the new posters with art from established manga and anime franchises. Taken together as one item, the Assassination Classroom swag was my favorite part of Brave.

My second favorite item in Brave was the Seven Deadly Sins tote bag, as it’s always nice to have another tote for the summer months. Not only is it a roomy bag suitable for a half-dozen manga, or some snacks for the museum, but it has some nifty anime art on it depicting Seven Deadly Sins characters.

While the graphics on the Neon Genesis Evangelion EVA-01 T-Shirt are excellent, the outstanding thing about it is its shade of purple, commonly seen in grape juice, grape jelly, two buck Chuck, Grape Ape, and other grape shaded things, but only rarely seen in clothing fabrics, possibly for fear of being eaten or imbibed. This is such a wonderful shade of purple to wear.

Brave’s Loot Pin features a cover from volume one of Overlord, Kugane Maruyama’s light novel series. This is pretty cool pin that doesn’t leave the viewer guessing as to what it’s about.

This month’s manga is a variant edition of Fairy Tail Rhodonite, a spin-off from the long-running manga and anime favorite. Fairy Tail Rhodonite divulges the backstory of a Fairy Tail favorite. While I haven’t had time to dig in, this looks like a well-drawn manga.

Overall, Brave was a good collection, with some Assassination Classroom swag, a new tote, an attractive shirt, and new reading material, but nothing in it as epic as the lighted Astro Boy included in the previous month’s crate. Loot Anime in 2018 feels a little lighter compared to the 2017 incarnation of this subscription, not only in the number of items but in the absence of the jaw-dropping Banpresto figures.

While Brave is no longer available, until May 27th, you can order Alternate Universe, which includes goodies from FLCL, Ancient Magus’ Bride, Monster Hunter Stories: Ride On, and Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha: Reflection.FLCL, Ancient Magus’ Bride, Monster Hunter Stories: Ride On and Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha: Reflection!
