Comic Review: Man From Space #2
Posted By Leo Johnson on September 25, 2013
Man from Space. The title says a lot about it, mainly that it’s about a man from space. But, there’s also a fish named Michael, body swapping, wrestling midgets, teleporting robots, gambling debts, and much more. Creator/writer/artist Marc Jackson makes a story full of humor and levity that will definitely leave you with a smile on your face.

Man From Space #2
The Man from Space and Hector the Teleporting Robot accidentally end up on another planet after weeks of being lost. While lamenting their fate and wondering what Michael is up to, they meet the Head of the Desert, a talking rock that offers to help them out. One odd story later, and Man from Space’s friend Dr. Brain is there to help the guys out. In addition to the main story, there are multiple one page and strip stories featuring everything from jetpacks, dynamite, fishing, sold out comics, jokes, and much more.

Marc Jackson has made Man from Space a strange, meandering, hilarious tale. The main character has a title more than a name, his best bud is a fish, and the supporting cast is anything but normal. The story is peppered with jokes and frequent references to past adventures. It’s a short story, about eight pages or so, but Marc is able to get a lot of great dialogue and jokes in there, and fills the one-page stories and four-panel strips in the backmatter with even more hilarious goodness.

Jackson’s art is fairly simple looking, with clean lines and bright colors. It’s something more akin to a flash animation or cartoons than most comic art, but it’s great for this odd, zany story. The characters all have great facial expressions, making the already often funny situations even better due to their reactions.
Though currently only for sale in print right now through Marc himself, Man from Space #2 will be free to read online on Friday 9/27. Whether free online or in print, it’s worth a read and is sure to leave you with a goofy grin on your face.
