Valiant has released a preview of its upcoming entry in The Future of Valiant, Peter Milligan and Juan Jose Ryp’s Britannia #1. Valiant describes the premise of this new series thusly:

“Since reading I, Claudius by Robert Graves as a teenager, I’ve been fascinated by the Roman world, and how that world affected these British Isles, pretty much obliterating the ancient Druid religion that had long existed until then,” writer Peter Milligan told The A.V. Club. “With the idea of Antonius Axia, I had a way into this story that had been waiting for me to write for some time.”
The astonishing black and white pages by Juan Jose Ryp are an outstanding showcase for his talent. In these uncolored pages, his work reminds me of the pages of another great artist that look just as good in black and white as in color, Colleen Doran.
