We love a good fan-made flick or at Bonus Stage. Which is why this time, we’re dedicating the whole week to them! We’ll be featuring some of our favourite fan produced shorts and animations. Part one can be seen here.
First up is this wonderful animation First Person Goomba. Showing the life of Mario’s most downtrodden enemy from their perspective, it’s both funny and surprisingly poignant. Next time you stomp a Goomba, you might think twice… Fantastic stuff from the incredibly talented Filipe Costa.
We’ve seen Mario reimagined as a Hollywood action movie, but the folks at Dayside TV had other ideas. Mario as a Hong Kong style action flick! It’s a high-kicking fun time.
Enough Mario for now, it’s time for his old rival to take centre stage. This Fan film featuring Sonic The Hedgehog has some pretty impressive effects work, and it works better than any live action Sonic Film has any right to. Comes from Blue Core Studios
It’s not only the most iconic of video game characters who crop up in Fan films. Last year’s Assassin’s Creed 3 inspired this extremely well made effort from Corridor Digital. Despite some pretty goofy acting, stick around and see some extremely well choreographed action.
Fan films frequently do a much better job of catching the true feel of a game into film form than their big-budget counterparts. Case in point- this short inspired by Grand Theft Auto IV made by Gregov Karensky. Great work Gregov!

I love the Assassin’s Creed games, I agree, the action in the fan film out weighed the acting by a milestone.
