Take a trip to VICTORIE CITY in July with 44FLOOD and IDW Publishing

“Brutal, bare, and beautifully crafted, VICTORIE CITY is a pitch-perfect combination of style and substance.”
-JOEY BRACCINO, talkingcomicbooks.com
Prepare for darkness in the collected edition of VICTORIE CITY, the complete four-part series created by Keith Carmack and Vincent Nappi that mixes thriller, mystery and noir with a touch of horror. Published by 44FLOOD and IDW, VICTORIE CITY will be released as a trade paperback on July 20th for $17.99. The 120-page collection includes artwork for all regular and variant covers by Ben Templesmith, George Pratt, David Stoupakis, and Christopher Mitten, plus additional work-in-progress material and pin-ups by Alex Korson and Skylar Patridge.
44FLOOD, an artist collective and publisher founded in 2012, has published anthologies, music, comic books, and illustrated novels by award-winning artists and writers such as Bill Sienkiewicz, George Pratt, Scott Radke, Jason Shawn Alexander, Neil Gaiman, Becky Cloonan, Phil Hale, Fink, and Dave McKean. 44FLOOD develops and publishes these works independently, as well as through a co-publishing agreement with IDW.
A young woman has gone missing, unidentifiable bodies are piling up at the morgue, and a lone wolf detective is about to stumble across an evil that no one in Victorie City is prepared for. Can the good in Detective Ness overcome a killer whose vicious acts grow to supernatural proportions?
“Bold, solid writing and strong, atmospheric artwork from a writer and an artist who are both highly innovative and willing to take thematic and stylistic risks – this is why people love independent comics.”

He is a contributing artist in the 44FLOOD anthology, TOME Volume 2: MELANCHOLIA, and has producer credits for Ben Templesmith’s THE SQUIDDER (44FLOOD/IDW, 2015) and DAGON (44FLOOD, 2016) graphic novels.

“It’s as subtle as a sledgehammer to the skull, and as welcoming as a brass-knuckle sandwich. It’s the kind of book that waves its hand at you and says ‘howdy neighbor’ with an evil-ass grin while it’s standing on its side of the fence and pissing on your lawn”

Ben Templesmith, co-founder of 44FLOOD and co-creator of 30 Days of Night, said: “As soon as we heard about the concept behind VICTORIE CITY, we wanted 44FLOOD to be the ones that published it. This is a book that’s very dark, with a punk aesthetic and integrity that’s absent from so many comics being published today. Early in my career, it felt like I spent a lot of time trying to fit into the agendas of publishers that didn’t really understand my style. To be at a point with 44FLOOD where I can release my own art, on my own terms, and to be able to curate series like VICTORIE CITY that I know likeminded weirdos will enjoy, is a privilege.”
Kasra Ghanbari, co-founder of 44FLOOD, said: “We established 44FLOOD as a collective through which to exercise our common beliefs on the kinds of art, music, and beauty that compels and inspires us. The response to books like TOME Volumes 1 and 2, THE SQUIDDER and DAGON has been overwhelming, and I believe that anybody who connected with those books is going to love VICTORIE CITY. Keith Carmack and Vincent Nappi have created a story with a beautiful darkness at its heart and I think they’re going to surprise a lot of people. I can’t wait to hold the collected edition of VICTORIE CITY in my hands and I can’t wait to announce what follows.”
